Hello All

We have a new boiler (London) and I had to buy insulating foam as we came a cropper in the recent snow. Was my plumber obliged by Building Regs to insulate this pipe please? If so could you point me to where it says so in order that I may get him to buy me a drink?

Kind regards to all

Not b/regs but normally the manufacturers install guide may state this and by implication the gas regs.

IIRC, the requirement is to prevent it from freezing, not specifically to insulate, so there may be other ways to meet the requirement.

Insulation does not prevent freezing, it delays the onset of freezing by reducing the rate of heat loss. Most times the delay is long enough that warmer weather arrives before the pipe freezes.
