I have a Valiant boiler and have a timer control (for heating & hot water) in the airing cupboard and even though i have turned the water timer off completely the water is still boiling hot please help !!

Has the immersion heater been turned on?It is the thing with the wire stiking out of the cylinder. 
ok the boiler is still firing - do you have a 2 port motorised valve (s). USually silver cased, on the pipes near the cylinder.

No the immersion heater switch is below the control panel and is definately off
