After all your help, I got my uncle up here this morning. (just retired as a spark)
He tested with his tester he plugs in to a socket, and it was coming up as OL? I think he said this was an open circuit?
Anyway he then connected an earth cable to the PME and to my CU.
Retesting then, he said OL had gone and now Im safely earthed.
It was tripping in 18 milliseconds on his tester.
