It looks like my favourite Yeti has disgraced itself :(
A week ago after the first heavy snow fall, I noticed the TCS light was on.....I hadn’t moved the car, just started it up. After driving a while I switched off, restarted and the lamp was off.
At this point I think the 4WD system was inoperative with the light on.
Anyway, today the same happened but this time the light remains on despite everything.
I’m hoping its just an ABS sensor - although that lamp isn’t on. Anyway, it’s in for a scan on Monday so fingers crossed! The brake lamps work fine and performance isn’t affected.

A VCDS scan is unable to communicate with the Haldex control module on the diff so tomorrow it’s a full check of wiring, fuses and connections and probably off with the module for remanufacturing. A new one from Skoda seems to be around £800 :(
John :)

I had this on my Transit John, it happened when I drove through deep puddles. But once dried the light went out again.

Just an ongoing update, if anyone is interested.....
BBA - Reman don’t know anything about the Generation 5 Haldex modules so I sent it to ecutesting.com.
They sent it back, saying they don’t have the software to test it either.
So, I’ve sent the module to a Haldex specialist in Crewe today - he reckons he knows what the issue is and will report back. Interesting - I’ll crack this bloody thing if its the last thing I do.
John :)

Why do we always get these hard to fix problems on our own cars? :cautious:

Cos Joe blogs would ignore it, especially if the costs were spiralling.

Also most garages these days would have changed half a dozen parts with no clue what they're looking for and don't want or don't have the time to diagnose properly,

There's always a dodgy mot tester who doesn't mind over looking a light on a dash, depending on how well you know them

I find a little bit of black insulating tape works wonders.

Too right!
Haldex man has sent me some pics of pumps with totally clogged filters at 20k miles:eek:
I have no problem with dropping the pump out for cleaning, but every time it needs VCDS to get it going again.
I don’t really understand that one - fair enough to code a new pump, but as its the original?
John :)

To be fair I've always been lucky with MOT's with tuning cars and restoring a couple the not tester has got to know me and knows whatever issues there are, I'll get it sorted double quick, so doesn't mind overlooking the odd minor failure (emissions when I've tuned the engine for example)

I do question the logic of manufactures some times.

Emissions are not just a minor failure but then again if you happen to have another car in the workshop at the same time........so I’ve heard.

Mind you, even that will be stopped in the future as they are looking at camera recognition being fitted in test bays.

The older generation 1,2,3 and 4 Haldex had replaceable filters but the generation 5 doesn’t.....it’s on the pump.
If the pump fails then no fault code will be necessarily thrown up so you don’t know if the 4wd system is working or not - until you go through a hedge. Ferkin brilliant, that one :(

 barstewards

I'd never been able to pass the emissions test with some of my old cars, with bigger injectors and turbos, cams, decats etc etc
