Myson power extra problem

I have a potterton boler in the house and a myson power extra MPE322 in the airing cupboard.
I noticed last night that the valve was making a humming noiseand getting very hot. In the morning tested with on CH on and the led comes on on the Myson power extra., but when i oly had the hot water on only. the light did not come on for it. but it got very hot, when does the valve get turned on.

new to these ch and bolier systems
