Need advice fitting in mains double socket

I need to a fit a new mains double socket.
Never done before.
Just wanted to know what I should do to make change...?

- Turn off electricity.
- Wire the same as what is on the current plug I guess.

Any further essential things I need to do?

Turn off all mains power.
Test circuit to confirm it is dead
Remove socket and fit replacement. Connect line conductors to L terminal
Connect neutral conductors to N terminal.
And earth conductors to the sockets earth terminal.

With a test instrument ,such as a multimeter ,twin probe voltage tester.
