FIRST: I do have a mitre saw, but not compound and I need to cut some crown moulding. Any tips on getting a good cut?

SECOND: I have to put up some chair rail and I have 2 inside corners that are not std. 90 degree. I have not measured them but they are around 135 degrees. Do I simply measure the angle and divide by 2? Or is there some other formula?

Thanks a ton for any replies.

point two spot on

point one dont know what crown mouldings are

floor level---------------- skirting

chair back level -------- dado rail

thee quarters hight -- picture rail

wall to ceiling---------- coving

He's from America - Crown moulding equals cornice or cove and a dado is a rebate, chair moulding is like our dado moulding.

It is usual in America to cut these type of mouldings laid flat on the saw and cut with a compound cut.

You will need to find a way to hold the moulding upright in the saw in the same position that it will be fixed, this can be achieved by clamping scrap wood to the saw fence/bed.

It was the stars and stripes flag and the location USA that gave it away!
