need help with my tumble dryer drum

hello there. i would like to know how smooth should a tumble dryer drum turn without the belt on it? i have removed the belt to replace it and turned the drum with my hand but realised the drum is just a touch stiff. should the drum spin freely or should there be some stiffness? the belt keeps snapping, maybe it is because the drum is stiff. all the bearings and motors seem to be working fine

Could be the front nylon skids, they act as bearings on the front of the drum but can wear quickly.
