I'll re-state my original post...

They aren't compatible

You seem to be trying to replace a two-channel programmer with a single-channel programmable roomstat, which won't work

To clarify. This is a programmer (or a backplane for one) it controls only the timing of your hot water and central heating functions.

Programmer.jpg

This is a room thermostat /programmable room thermostat receiver. It controls the heating temperature (and time if programmable) of your home and has no control over the hot water.

They are different devices and have different functions, which is why you cannot exchange one with the other.

I know the above is not easy to understand, but where does the OP say that he wants to replace the Invensys programmer with a Salus wireless thermostat? He talks about an "old thermostat". Why assume he doesn't know the difference between a thermostat and a programmer/timer?

Here is my reasoning:

Makes reference to 'old thermostat' and 'Salus RT500'

At this point I thought he wanted to replace an 'old thermostat' with a Salus RT500 thermostat, so that's possible, although I did wonder why he had posted a picture of a programmer backplane and not the old thermostat.

Then we got details of the 'old thermostat' that was to be replaced.

and posted a diagram of what he thinks is the thermostat, but it's actually a programmer.

ok so can i connect programmer with thermostat ?
Yes, but the Salus will take over the heating time-control functions of the existing Invensys programmer, which is still required to control hot water times.

You appear to have a Y-plan system with a mid-position motorized valve. Does everything wire into a large junction box? If so. a pic of the junction box, with the lid off, would be helpful.

hi i make more picture today i hope that gonna be helpful

Your wiring suggests that you have a Y Plan system. If so, you should have something that looks like this. Often located near the hot water cylinder.

If you do, then you should:

1. Run a Live and Neutral from the existing programmer wiring to the Salus.

2. Remove the yellow wire from the existing programmer terminal 4 and instead extend it so that it connects to the Salus 'NO' terminal.

3. Link Salus 'L' terminal to Salus 'Com' terminal.

All of the other wiring should be left as it is.

I have also assumed that you only have the programmer that you posted the wiring diagram of, and there is not an existing room thermostat. Also, because you haven't shown the remote thermostat part, that it is a 'programmable thermostat' (ie with integral time control) and not just a thermostat. If it doesn't have integral time control, then post back, because the wiring will be slightly different as you need to keep the time control from the existing programmer.

Here's a diagram showing the changes for fitting a receiver operating with a programmable thermostat.

Programmer to Salus.jpg

The control for your central heating will now be from the Salus. The existing programmer will not have any effect on the heating, but the hot water control remains as it is now with the existing programmer.
