Hi there,

Recently me and my partner woke up to find our boiler leaking. About an hr later all this water started pouring out the boiler and flooded our kitchen and downstairs.

We managed to get someone to turn the water off. We were told that the previous tenants did not have the boiler properly installed as they did not install an overflow pipe.

How much will it cost to get an overflow pipe fitted please?

give us a wee bit more info please.
make/model of boiler etc.
is it a combi?
do you know how to re fill your ch system
might not be an overflow probably a pressure relief valve.
wot was your system pressure, before it started leaking?

it is a modena 80 E combi boiler,

I think the presure was up at about 3 when it started leaking, then went up to 4 when the water properly exploded out of the boiler.

The pressure is now sitting at about 1 however it is still leaking water out where there should be a overflow pipe.

we have a corgi reg plumber cuming up 2nyt to give us a quote on how much it will cost to get an overflow pipe fitted.

if its still leaking at 1 bar your PRV will need replacing,
your expansion vessel will need re charged or replaced,
is the combi on an outside wall, how many floors up is the combi?
reason for asking if ground floor,"overflow pipe fitting " would take 30 mins max!

People up there must be very short of work giving visits to quote for such small jobs.

We charge a diagnostic fee of £84 to visit and sort the boiler out initially.

If the PRV is not taken to the outside then we charge just £48 extra to drill a hole in the wall and fit the vent pipe as long as its to go within 3m of the boiler.

pressure should be about 1 bar cold / 1.5 hot, if it is any higher when hot expansion vessel needs pumping up
new PRV plus drill through to outside and pipe up
1 hours work we would charge £57 plus the parts
