Hello all, i have just bought my mates whole downstairs laminate flooring, he has had this down for around 3 years. So what i was wondering was do i still need to leave the expansion gaps? if so how much roughly?

Most manufacturers recommend an expansion gap of around 10-12mm.

Personally - I'd recommend you fill a 12mm expansion gap with a product called 'Cork Expansion Strips'. You can pick these up in any big D.I.Y store and they expand and contract with your flooring. Due to changes in temperature your flooring naturally expands and contracts, if it has nothing to bounce the flooring back to its original shape then you could encounter problems in the future.

Hope this helps
