Need your help from the pros around here..

We have a glowworm 30BF boiler, now the ignition light is on, but when we turn the dial to ignite the boiler for hot water or heating nothing happens? I spoke to my brother in law and he mentioned that it needs a new diverter valve and they are simple to fit.

I have been to a few places and when i tell them that i need a diverter valve they give me astrange look and don’t know what I’m talking about lol.

Can anyone please help? is it possible to reset these boilers some how or is it time to call in a plumber.

try a 3port valve the silver small box in your cylinder cupboard, or the pcb on these boilers go aswell !!

Thanks mate, but what is that? I see a silver box when i take the bottom section off but its all enclosed.

What model exactly is the boiler? 30BF usually refers to boiler size and flue type.

thats maybe because your boiler doesn't have one

your system probably has one of these

Or a couple of these

but since you don't have either hotwater or central heating then its likely to be a problem with the boiler or a wiring issue anyway

What? That the part you've shown has nothing to do with your boiler or problem.

ummmmm is it me or does the said boiler have not diverter valve ? its not a combi its a heat source only boiler ,
the silver box is the same as the pictures above and are situated somewhere on your heating system , normally in your cylinder cupboard, there is a manual lever that can be pushed to the open position
the other thing it could be is the circit board , as the boiler is saying its ignited yet its not actually alight

Perhaps the brother in law needs the said valve..so, OP buys the valve, then declares it is not the item that needs replacing when the brother in law smartly steps in and takes the valve..
