Neff Dishwasher not washing

My Neff dishwasher S5543X2GB/46 (FD8404) pumps water in and out at the end of the cycle, but does not wash. There is power to the main motor, but this motor is dead and does not move - it does get hot though. Is this a common problem - do I just need to renew the main motor? I dont want to spend £160 on a new one to find the problem is elsewhere

If the wash motor just sits there & "hums" the motor capacitor may be defective or the pump impellor jammed.
