Neff Hob child lock stuck in default

Hi My Neff Hob T2646 has a child lock on it which has now decided to go into default mode. It flashes every 4 secs but won't turn off despite holding the button down for well over a minute. The hob will work if I disconnect the mains electricity but for only 4 secs approx before the child lock re-engages and the gas is disconnected.

I am frustrated, can it be fixed or do I need to replace the hob...Help!
