Neighbour wants to put rodding eye on my property

Hi,

Our next door neighbour is building an extension and wants to put a rodding eye on our land. He claims that the previous owners of our property have built over it but i have no way of easily verifying this claim? I don't see why he has an interest in this unless its beneficial to him and suspect he is in fact building his extension over a rod eye and sees building one on our land as a cheaper alternative to rectifying the issue within his boundaries.

Can anyone offer advise on this? shall i refuse this or take him up on the offer to save me the hassle of paying myself should there be an issue with blocked sewerage?

Contact the company that supplies you with water and sewage services.

If the sewer involved serves two or more separate properties then the sewage company will be responsible for the maintenance of the pipework that is common to both.

They will be the best people to advise you about locations and legalities of rodding eyes as they will probably be the ones to use them.

They may even install one free of charge.

IMO bernard's advice is sound.

IF your property has an unauthorised build over a sewer then the last thing you want to be doing is more unauthorised work on it.
