neon lit switch for loft lights.

And because this perked my interest, my switches are a bit cracked now so Im going to replace them.
Had a look and most of the major manufacturers make neon plates for around ordinary switches.

like this or this.
Still doesn't sort the led issue, but a flicker is better than nothing.

so is it possible that a single pole switch with a neon has the neon (plus series resistor) wired between switched live and earth?
Depends what you mean by "Is it possible?".

Are there any SP switches with neon?

Somewhat surprisingly, it seems that there are plenty. A Google search for "single pole switch with neon" (WITH the quotes) gets about 11,000 hits. It looks as if most have flying leads on the neon "to do with as one sees fit"! A couple of examples:

Yes, thanks. I don't know what I was thinking.

There could, of course, be a neutral available with a SP switch.

I always remember as a
Child the older MK waterproof switches.

Neon on, when light off to help locate switch.
Even have one on house
