Hello Everyone,
Just to inform you guys I finally got round to buying NEST Gen 3 and today I managed to get it fitted and working (thats the PLUS bit!!)
I fitted the Heatlink on the side of the cross beams in the loft approx. 2 feet from the boiler. I fitted two separate junction boxes as the original wiring from Boiler to Isolation switch was a bit short.
I checked all my connections twice to make sure I hadnt made a mistake. BEFORE I fitted the NEST to its base I measured the voltage across the pins to ensure it was only 12vdc......................remember 230v ac doesnt do your NEST any good.
I managed the set up ok but couldnt get the boiler to fire up. I eventually swapped the two wired to the Heatlink (com and Call for heat) pins 2 and 3 and hey presto it is all working now as designed. It will take us a few days to get completely conversant with its movements but Im happy with it and it seems pretty accurate. If theres anyone out there hesitating about doing this DONT. If you are unsure of the wiring just ask explicit questions on this site, there appears to be good guys out there who are happy to help.
My last piece of advice is if YOU are not entirely HAPPY how to wire it all up yourself, ASK someone dont take a chance and blow up £200 worth of NEST
Cheers and Happy Christmas to you all
Alex
