I don't pretend to have read all the science, but I've read a little. What I found funny (or 'funny') is this:
Let's say we as a country meet our Net Zero targets. It will have cost a minimum of £100bn, and probably several times that. It will then continue to cost huge sums after this. This is in addition to the significant lifestyle changes and cut-backs everyone will be forced to make.
In the best case, the predicted reduction in the maximal average global temperature by meeting Net Zero targets, and sticking to them, is 0.03C. A more reasonable outcome is 0.02C, with possibilities of it being as low as 0.005C.
And the 'funny' bit; even in the best case, such a change is approximately 40 times smaller than what can be scientifically measured.
So even assuming we meet every target, it can never be shown that anything we have done has had the slightest effect on the climate. And even if we could prove it, it would not amount to a reduction greater than 0.9% of the total temperature increase.
If that's not insanity, I don't know what is.
