i have a customer who has asked me to bring a new cold main in his current main is 1/2 steel suppling a 4 bed, 2 b,room and cloakroom kitchen and utility, im part off the wiaps so i know the in and outs off new main

My question is that can i take the new main to the from the new stop valve to the boundary and connect it on to the old main?

I have seen this done before and do you actually gain much from it because doesn't it rely on the ferrel valve size and size to the boundary

yes it does rely on the ferell size i had a problem the other week flow rate was very poor so dug around the boundary stop cock and found where it had been tapped into the main supply and it was on 15mm from there to the boundary stop cock. But i would suggest to change the 1'2 steel to 25mm bring it straight into the property in 25mm see if it has made any differance. If not two ways about it either contact the water supplier and see what they say about changing it or what i would personally do is install a cold water accumalator these are awesome and will maintain the flow rate!
