new 43" TV with SCART?

I was hoping to purchase a Panasonic TV in BF sales.

Before purchasing, I thought I just best check it has a SCART port for use with my beloved HDD video recorder, and it hasn't!

Are they still making TV's with SCART?
Are adaptors cables available?

Any recommendations please ?

We had a stupidly expensive B&O tv- about £12k. It only had SCART.

I wanted a SCART to HDMI connector so that I could plug in a Fire stick. Initially, I made an error and purchased a HDMI to SCART (they only work in one direction). They exist. I found (both variants of mine) on Amazon. They need an external power supply though. Both of mine were supplied with the power supply.

Modern sets, use USB for recording - either a memory stick, or USB drive, but be aware not all allow you to set it up to record programs our little Roku, in the kitchen does not. We can pause/play etc., on a stick, SDD, but not schedule a record.

Who, me? Why would it have a HDMI? Just ordinary SDD, HDD, memory sticks, with USB interfaces.

The TV I purchased in 2012, while it didn't have a massive scart connector, as least had a short lead so I could plug one in.

My HDD video recorder allows me to skip adverts at the press of a button, so I wouldn't be without it. Also like the series link and automatic title search word recordings. They did do a model with an HDMI upscaler, but it's not really a good as I have now.

TV is so rubbish these days, I wouldn't want to invest in a recorder!

Modern, TV's, with USB recording, work just like a video recorder, you have the FF / FR etc.. Unloke video tape, you don't have to FF through previous recordings, straight to the one you want to watch. You would only need to invest a few pounds in the USB record media.

Downside is, most only have one tuner, so you only watch/record one channel at a time.

mine is a twin tuner Harddisk recorder. I press a button and I skip 4 minutes in an instant.

My record function, remembers how much you have watched, then continues play from that point.

Not that I know of.

Some TVs have a Composite PAL video (and stereo audio) input : 3x RCA or 4-pole 3.5 mm jack. Not always listed in the specs so need examination of connection panel and/or manuals. You may already have suitable connections or cables in the man cave?
My 65LV2000 oled from Panny has the 4-pole socket input (but they don't supply a cable to RCA plug/scart).

Scart to hdmi adapters are typically Composite only (not RGB) and occasionally S-video which separates Y luminance and C (chroma/colour signals) and would be (marginally) better if the HDD recorder supports that output. They all seem to upscale to HD 720p or 1080p and use a similar chipset.

TV may do better upscaling and deinterlacing from its own Composite analogue input. I'd choose that option.

You need to shortlist some sets and examine what inputs they have.

Be prepared to be underwhelmed by any 576i analogue upscaled to a large UHD 4k screen (unless relatively expensive).

Yeah I'm already running a Composite PAL video cable. (phono) for it.
And it has S Video

Will look at the specs for composite then, rather than scart
