New AirFlow iCON 15 not working

I recently purchased an AirFlow iCON 15 extractor fan after the previous one in my bathroom died. I purchased it from from SuperLec but it doesn't seem to be working.

I've wired it in and the actuator that opens/closes the cover works, but the fan itself doesn't do anything. I also purchased the Start Delay Timer Module (72675702B) to go with it, so I tried bypassing that and wiring the fan up directly, just in case it was the module that had the issue. However, even wired directly, the actuator again works OK, but the fan itself is still completely dead.

I've contacted SuperLec (had to wait a very long time in the phone queue!!) and they said that I first needed to contact AirFlow direct and only once they had confirmed an issue could I arrange for a return. Once they (SuperLec) then had the returned fan, they'd need to send it to AirFlow for them to verify that it was indeed faulty. At that point, a replacement could then be arranged.

That sounds to me like I'm going to be sans bathroom fan for quite a while.

What I'm wondering is:

- is this a common issue with AirFlow fans? Has anyone had similar experiences? I just want to make sure there isn't some quick 'n easy way of rectifying this that I'm not aware of (I know...eternal optimist!)

- has anyone dealt with SuperLec returns before? And if so, how long does it take for them to arrange/resolve?

Thanks

That sounds like a load of tosh to me. Your contract is with them not the manufacturer and if you are confident the item is faulty they should replace or refund your money in the store there annd then when you return it. There are no terms and conditions to the contrary on their website and unless this was printed on your receipt or pointed out to you at the point of purchase they can't argue. Go back and make a fuss.

icon fans are some of the most reliable on the market. The supplier has the responsibility to replace the unit

Don’t let them fob you off

Are you sure, that you are not wiring the motor, in series with the actuator?
This is wired up with the control module in place:

And this is wired directly, bypassing the control module:

And this is the wiring diagram (my installation is has an external isolator switch over the bathroom door):

For reference, this is the old fan:

Any obvious gotchas...?
