New Bath Waste Pipe Route

Hi, I want to install a new bath but the route to the main waste pipe outside is against the run of the joists. Do I have to take the waste pipe over the floor, drill holes in the joists (?!) or re-plan the site of the bath?!

Do not drill into your joists as you will weaken them severely.
Raise the bath a bit more, fit a shallow trap and run your waste along the wall. Raising the bath will give you a bit more fall and you can box in later.
