And with no gap between driveway and house, have you checked level and water flow is away from the house and not towards it etc.

I'd hope that's not a new dropped kerb with the state of those slabs in the pavement.

It looks to slope away from the house, spirit measure says that it does too. The driveway it replaced did too. The contractor did say he would make sure that it would.

It's not, was pre existing. Agree though, the state of it is terrible.
