This is the problem with quotes being non-binding really. If anything changes its going to fall on customer, so tradesman isn't really under any pressure to make sure the customer is fully informed of eventualities. Not saying that is always the case, but I've seen it often enough.

Yes, but it is the customer's house so surely that's only to be expected?

The installer mentioned the possibility of an upgrade being needed.

That's a prompt for the customer to ask about the likely cost if he has limited cash. Otherwise the installer carries on assuming he can pay a little more if needed.

In your case he seems to be kind of suggesting that you don't need to do anything about it.

Since we do not have all the tech detail I cannot make any comment on how much an upgrade is needed.
