Our new build property is just over 2 years old. We’ve recently noticed a gap between the skirting board and the floor, next to the back door in the kitchen. The spirit level indicates the floor is sloping away towards the exterior wall. Should we be concerned? What could be the cause?

It may or may not be related, but a crack has appeared on the interior wall around the edge of the back door frame, next to the sloping floor. We think this could just be shrinkage.

The house was built by a small local builder and is backed by an architect’s certificate.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Not sure if you’ve just zoomed into one spot, but the gap under the skirting looks pretty minuscule. If I’d screeded a floor and that was the only issue I’d be happy. Door just looks like it’s moved a bit relative to the walls so wants a bit of caulk/silicone running round it if it bothers you.
So yeah agree with the man who nose all.
