Merry Christmas

I purchased a number of new ceiling lights from 'Ring' , all of the lights have a circle of blue dot lights on the fitting which are basically for effect , however on 2 of the lights some of the blue dots arent light , the halogen bulbs are all ok , can any 1 help with this ?

Cheers

Breezers right ,
The three people I know who had these fittings with the l.e.d's have had to do the same, (they (B+Q) may be aware of the problem !).

I never mentioned I got the lights from B and Q so I have no doubts with Breezers advice.

I forgot to mention that 1 other light (same as 2 I mentioned) started to flash and then is now completley dead, powered off the downstairs lights at the fuse box and removed the light but got a small shock from the N terminal :o

I spoke to B and Q and was told the blue LEDS were supposed to last a lifetime so 1 month is a little dissapointing , B and Q guarantee the lights against electrical faults for 1 year, im off to B and Q cheers for your help

LEDs will last a lifetime, correctly connected  Methinks the fitting has been badly assembled.

no surprise there then, it was made by ring.

I brought some underwater lights made by ring (seriously they were for the pond) , they should have been called floodlights for the amount of water they let in.

Rng should stick to what they were good at, electric elements

So no good for the pond Im glad you mentioned that if its a case of bad light stopped play in the pond (could do with that in Australia)

actauly i did end up using them as "floodlights" to give light to a dark corner in the garden.

If so , would the Halogen lights x 6 on each light not have issues ??

no, they were designed like that, but as they are poorly made they are "insert your adjective here"

do what i first said take them back

Either that or chinese LEDs...

Sidenote... I wonder how the LEDs are supplied... my money is on a quick and dirty power supply made from a few simple components using a capacitor as the core part... not that I suppose there is anything wrong with that as long as precutions are taken so it 'fails safe' and you treat the LED connections as if they were mains and suitably insulated and stuff

Life time expires when the object dies......

So an LED that dies after just 2 hours has lived it own full life time. So no complaint can be made. Now if a minimum life time was quoted that would be a different matter

They could have just been connected backwards! They are diodes, after all!
