I recently had a combi boiler (worc 24i junior) heating system installed to replace my electric heaters, the installers are due to return but thought i would try get my head round it myself! Since its was installed my mixer taps and thermostatic mixer wont work, if i have them on full hot they work perfect as soon as you try adding any cold they go freezing its all or nothing.

Ant suggestions welcomed.

Backflow through the mixer taps from cold to hot.

Your cold mains sounds as though it has more pressure than the hot so is turning the boiler off.

Fitting non-return valves on the pipes to the mixer taps may cure it.

Cheers Mate thats something i can do myself ill try that.

If I instal a boiler and the customer starts tinkering with services to and from it, I am out of there as subsequent boiler problems become his problem, not mine. I as a heating engineer prefer to deal with workmanship issues sometimes well past the 12 months time frame.

What do you propose to do if high pressure results in boiler damage. It might not, but who is to say. Cold water in my area is at a decent pressure- often see secondary HEs pass to primary side. So, advise given is not all that foolish. And, why should you have to put right someone elses oversights/ mistakes.

check hot and cold are the right way round ,especially at the showers!
