Hi all,

I want to fit an electric shower in one of the bathrooms. My consumer unit is in the garage and one side of the house and the bathroom in question is on the first floor at the opposite side of the house. There is no wiring for it at present. There is no room on the consumer unit for another circuit so I think I will need a new one? Is that correct? How much should I expect to pay for a job like that? I don't know these things and don't really want to be taken for a ride. Thanks.

Ok, I get the point. How long is a piece of string etc etc.

So what do I actually need? Do I need a new consumer unit with more slots? Or can I get an "extension" (single slot one) for the extra circuit?

It may be easier to get a couple of sparks round to give quotes, then post their comments/proposals here.

Nobody reading this (except yourself) can see what will be required, so the cost will probably vary between 1 old diesel car to a long weekend in Monaco for 6 people on grand prix weekend ( champers inc. )

Could be a new cu, could be a second cu, could need earthing and bonding attending to, could be an easy cable run, could be a pain in the sphincters
