We just bought a house that has a Baxi Bermuda fire/back boiler with heating/water controlled by a Randall Set2.

We can't afford to replace the back boiler yet, but does anyone know if it's possible to replace the controller with one that has a thermostat for the heating?

It looks like it controls the heating/water via "switched mains" as it is fed from a fused spur and has two power cables coming out of it that go in the direction of the boiler.

Best bet is to get a qualified engineer to fit a wireless room stat as unless your timer is in the lounge or hallway it will not control temperature correctly anyway.

The stat can be sited anywhere and the control box wired into the heating wiring box, usually sited in the airing cupboard. The new stat can then be wired into your new boiler when you decide to change the boiler.

Thanks footprints.

I'm a capable DIYer and have previously fitted a wireless thermostat to the heating circuit of a combi but I have never worked on a unit that does both domestic HW and CW and don't have a wiring diagram, hence the question.
