New cooker hood/extractor with a 7amp fuse

I have a new cooker hood/extractor which is fitted with a moulded plug and a 7 amp fuse, the motor is rated at 85w and I'm wondering if the fuse should be smaller, why I'm querying the manufacturer is anyone's guess; just looking at fuse ratings didn't ring true so better to ask and risk a ribbing!
Other question; old cooker hood was wired directly into an fcu behind the chimney part of the hood, this was clearly not done by a spark as the fitting was a mess. To accomodate the new hood, I'm assuming I can replace this fcu with a 3 pin socket for the new hood; the cable is 1.0mm t&e and is controlled from the lighting circuit breaker.
I've attached a pic of the motor label for ref.
Thanks

7Amps is very peculiar. Is that what's printed on the cartridge in the plug?

Can you show us a photo?

It might be counterfeit.

How new is new?

It looks like the company might not be around for much longer.

If you ordered it online and you are still within the cooling off period, it might be prudent to consider paying for return postage and getting a refund.

Established in 2020 and has been dormant, i.e. supposedly not trading, ever since. Once missed its accounts submission deadline but submitted late.

Ciarra is based in Hong Kong. That UK business is presumably the nominal importer. I doubt that is any more dodgy than a lot of imported goods.

Who did you buy it from?

Got it from Amazon just this week, Ciarra been around since 1968. Difficult to buy anything that isn't imported from that part of the world these days.

The Ciarra hoods tend to have brushless motors for multi speed and I expect the 7a fuse is to accommodate the initial starting surge.

Despite the name Dissman having the same energy as "sorny" and "panaphonic" they do seem to be at least somewhat legit.

Fuses etc. are to protect the cable.

You say it is 1mm² T&E; this can carry 16A so any fuse less than that will do.

Likely the lighting circuit is protected by a 6A circuit breaker so technically no fuse is needed - but something has to be put in UK FCUs and plugs.

Thanks for that, yes it's is a 6amp circuit breaker. Definitely 1mm t&e as I searched the cable for the markings. One of my initial worries was that I wan't sure whether that cable was suitable.
Assume I'm ok to replace the 'in situ' fcu for a 3 pin socket?
