How many terminals does the new switch have, what are they labelled, and if more than 2 which 2 did you use?

The only things i can think of are
1, the new one has 1 and 2 reversed.
2, the switch has faulty coils.
3, the switch has it's own fuse in the fuse box.

sorry i couldn't be more help to you
