Hello. Just fitted a new 10.5kw electric shower. I've used a 50amp MCB with 10mm cable. All fitted, all going very well, turn the shower on and no hot water. It's making a healthy buzzing sound but just no hot water coming out. Any ideas? Quite annoying as I really need a shower!

Mike

hi sound like no water getting to the shower check the
vavle.
could be airlocked read through the instruction and see
if there is a procedure for priming the pump

It's most likely some sort of plumbing issue, a few obvious things to check:

Are any isolators still off?
Did you flush out all the pipework before connecting it?
Are you running it in the 'cold' mode (i.e. no heat), as you normally need to do this with most showers so they can fill up the heating can
Is it direct to the mains, and not off a tank feed or similar?

Also, this won't be why it's not working, but what route does your 10mm cable take, as there are very few installation methods that will give it a current carrying capacity of >= 50A, for example - above a plasterboard ceiling with <100mm of insulation gives a max capacity of 45A...

Electric showers shouldn't make any sound - its only a heater.

sorry thats not quite true.

They have an electric valve to let the water in. some even have a small pump
