Mentioned on another thread recently about what the "professional" electrician who wired my daughter's brand new flat did to the downlighters.

No prize now but what is missing?

The grey insulation was cut back outside the terminal cover as well.

There were 3 fitted - all the same - so not an isolated mistake.

Will check his name and certification body on the wiring cert but is it really worth complaining?

Hard to comment without seeing them 'as installed'.
Are these 12v or 230v lights?
There should be a cover over the terminals
Cable sheath should go fully into the enclosure
There should be a cable clamp to provide strain relief
Earth conductor should be connected through to the last light in the chain.

Re complaint, its unlikely that you could get anyone to get excited about this. Unless someone got a shock, or there was a fire....

most downlights, including yours can only accomodate 1 twin & earth cable properly terminated , you would expect the last donwlight to be correctly done.

The cable clamp has been cut off with a hacksaw, the cover was fitted. I removed it for the photo. He did not forget, he delibarately cut corners!

You CAN get two twin & earth in the clamp, and fit the cover with the grey insulation clamped but it is not easy. That is how they are done now!

p.s they are 240V fire rated
