New Hole For Cooker Hood

That’d only make sense if you were coring a new 6” hole out, and even then you’d have to go easy as week old brickwork particularly in this weather wont take much of a battering without moving.
Right yes I would leave it longer than just 1 week. But will the new one be overlapping the old one or not.

What is the ceiling height?

What is the height of the existing hole?

A new hood is likely to exhaust from the top, and then you will have an elbow

So the higher the better.

Modern hoods use 125mm or 150mm duct

Rigid is much much better than flexi

From the OP's description, no, but we don't know how stable the wall is, under that plaster. A matter of making a judgement, when it comes to the time to make the new hole.

It matters not. No one in their right mind would repair the old hole then drill the new hole.

As I said, brickwork will need removing for both the old hole (toothing) and the new hole, so it all may as well be done in one hit. All the removed bricks (even some of the smaller bits) can then be best used efficiently in the brick up of the old and filling in around the new duct sleeve.
