Just bought a new timber framed house, so as my previous homes have always been of a block construction i need some advise regarding which wall fixings i need for general things like curtain poles mirrors pictures etc?

I've used dozens of these, and have never had one pull out.

A few in any pack will 'malfunction' in some way, but I've found them excellent. Invest in the proper tool. Similar:

It's much better than pulling them up with a screwdriver. For curtain poles and the like, you might be able to get away with ordinary wood screws depending on how thick the timber lintel is.

The hollow fix anchors have limited use since they only take a particular screw which invariably does not work with curtain poles fitting and the like, there are a variety of hollow fixings and you may need a differing type for each application.
