We have just moved to a new house and as you can understand are running out of money rapidly. We wanted to get a flush light fitting and a chandelier fitted by an electrician but have a lowest quote of £95 forcing us to do it ourselves. We managed fine with the first flush light fitting but when it came to the second flush light fitting in the same room we fund that we have 2 Yellow/green wires, 5 brown wires and 3 blue wires coming from the ceiling. In the pack we have one connector block with 3 holes either side. Can we put all the same colour wires in the same hole or do we need a bigger connector block.

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks

Sarah

No

read the first few threads in this (Electrics UK) forum and find the diagrams of how lighting circuits work.

You have to identify every wire to know what to do with it.

It sounds like you took the wires out of the old lighting fitting without carefully drawing and marking every one of them so you can re-connect them correctly.

this is a common mistake but you will probably only make it once.

edit: bah. too slow

Thanks for all your help, i didn't disconnect any wires just took the cap off to see what was there then thought to ask for help before touching anything.... Anyway i've found an electrician who would do it for £60 so i'm taking the easy way out.

Thanks again

Sarah
