new light keeps blowing fuse, help...

I didn't separate the 2nd and 3rd errors into 2 paragraphs for the sake of readability. Error 2 was, I believe, connecting the lamp directly across the live and neutral and error 3 (I believe) was connecting the switch across the live and neutral as well.

The 3 errors combine to give the symptoms described.

Given how common two way switching is I wouldn't read too much into the original poster saying turned on and turned off, it may mean that the fuse blows when the switch is switched to the conventional off position or it may just mean that the light is on with the switch in one position and the fuse goes with it in the other.
