Hi

I've had my old artexed ceiling skimmed and it's looking good. But when it's fully dry should I use brush or roller ? It's a small bedroom but I assume a diluted mist coat first and then roller after brushing the edges would be the normal approach. The walls are rolled and I was concerned over brush marks if I used a soft brush so roller seemed the obvious choice.

Any advice appreciated

Mist coat, dilution based on the manufacturer's advice and not someone on youtube.

Roll the ceiling using an extension pole. You should only need the stepladder for the cutting in.

A small bedroom should be about 0.45-1.5 hours per coat, assuming that the room is empty.

The dilute coat will be splattery. Roll parallel with the walls to begin with so that you don't get paint on the wall emulsion. You can mist the walls with a light spray of water in the event of "accidents" or over splatter.

With a decent roller, when you apply the full fat paint, the splatter on to the walls should be negligent.

Edit---- not negligent but negligible.

Makes perfect sense, thank you.

I like to keep things simple and I've got the tools as described.

Thanks again
