Hi all, I've just recently had my ceiling plaster and over the past few days had several cracks appear. I'm looking for some advice as how to fix. It's on the ceiling above some stairs so not particularly accessible. Can anyone recommend what I could use to fix the cracks? Or is it worth calling the plasterer again?

Depending on how recent you define "recently", I would call the plasterer back.
Looks like they've gone a bit dry with the mix, or it was a very hot week.

Hi there thanks for the response, the plaster work was finished on Friday. I called the plasterer and he said that because it's not a solid backing (artex) he thought this might happen. He suggested to scrape out the cracks with a Stanley blade and fill them in, however there are far to many cracks to scrape out and refill, and the fact it's on a ceiling makes it even harder to do

For best results, Artex Sealer should be used and allowed time to fully dry out before skimming. The new plaster softened the Artex coating and then as both dried out at different rates, the cracking occured.

In fact my plasterer said he wouldn't risk skimming the artex , not worth the hassle he said...

It'll come down at some point, he knows this fine well but is trying to get rid of you.

When I skimmed my artex I used PVA with builders sand and have had no problems. It's all so very similar to blue grit just a different colour!
