Hi. Ive just had a company put me a new toilet.vanity unit and radiator in... i paid him and then realised new radiator that replaced old one wasnt working. The owner of company looked at it and said hed come back on 11th jan...he didnt come so i rang him... he apologised and turned up with a chap an hour ago... they are now bleeding system...but while they are doing this the boss mentioned it may be faulty valve.... shouldnt he have changed valve first then..... the workman that were here all last week mentioned that none of them have any qualifications... they used one of my bedrooms for a dumproom for all their stuff. They mixed the grout and everything upstairs. There was dust in every bedroom.even downstairs u could write your name on the coffee table.... i didnt know that for a toilet.sink n small radiator plus tiling on plain plastered walls could cause this chaos and dirt.. its taken 7 days and sometimes i had 4 men upstairs. I looked after them well kept them in tea .coffee.biscuits.cake and made them bacon and egg n sausage sandwhiches every day... am I being unreasonable on being unhappy ..i dont think they know what they are doing at the moment....theyve just bled a downstairs radiator and now they have put heating back on but i can hear them mumbling upstairs.... i bought every single thing they needed and yet after 2 days boss asked me for a 1000 pounds...should i have paid this first? Should i have paid balance before everything works? Boss even talked me into a false roof in toilet and .it does look nice but that was 350 me having talked him down from 450 and the toilet room is 2 yd by 1yd......

After an hour and a half they decided the new valve was faulty.....if theyd have left it for me...i could have taken it back and got money back lol

stop the bacon sandwiches.

They think you are a soft touch and are not doing a proper job.

Finish off what's going on and ask around locally for someone better.

If you tell the boss you checked your bank and funds are low, can it wait until you can afford it he will lose interest.

Don't pay them any more until you are satisfied, and don't agree to any extra work or to any price rises. You might feel more confident if you have someone with you.

Thank you... i always treat work lads like i treat my sons... id already gave him a thousand pound and i would have understood had he to buy anything... i think he wanted it to pay lads wages who grumbled they are on min. Wage and one chap was on less tham minimum but darent say anything or he would have no job... the boss has 4 vans.....hes got radiator working and theyve gone... he did mention that hed sort a leak under sink for me ...its a pipe joint i didnt get back on properly after i took it off to bleach all the traps.... they had a go twice but its still leaking so i will ask my son to do it... wont be using company again. As they havent grouted floor tiles behind toilet. Chipped new door they put on and put small hinges on so it looks a mess.... i thought with giving him extra work for lads hed be grateful... i bought 3 more doors and they were 45 each to fit. I bought a new radiator for my bedroom n valves..that cost 85 pound to fit n then the roof 350. So that was another 575 pound approx... so all in all the toilet room has cost me £ 4,220..think i will shop round next time and stop doing sandwiches....no wonder the mates come.... it cost 50 for stuff for em haha i think im being normal everyone else must think im stupid... thank you for your advice.i will take it... they have quoted me 900 for ridge tiles and i know they have to have scaffolding but i think he will end up charging me more so im shopping round..x
