New rads, crosshead manual value / not a trv

Replacing the radiators.

Wife wants these, which are manual / not TRVs.

Is this a bad idea? I understand how a TRV works (wax melt thingy reduces the flow when the desired temp is reached). Can't say we ever adjust our TRVs.

I can only imagine these may be inefficient (e.g., too much heat), but surely same will apply. We'll get them set once and never touch again.

Thoughts? Does anyone use manual ones, or, are they a pain and the reason TRVs exist

You have no say in the matter ,wife wants them and that's that :giggle: .
The rad will work fine ,and you can manually adjust / close as you wish ,just won't do it for you like a TRV.
 
Remarkably, logic does work on her. If they're gonna mean a lifetime of fiddling, or bigger bills she will listen
