I have to have a complete new roof on my 1920's semi and have asked for a few estimates. What are the main considerations/questions I should ask as I don't want to make my decision based on price alone, obviously. Also would it be wise to have a skylight fitted? When I asked one of the estimators, it was another case of chin rubbing and "that'll cost yer".

Can be very useful specially with the window vent for ventilation or letting heat out on a very hot day. Shouldn't cost a lot more to do :!:

They should make sure the roof structure can take the extra weight of the tiles if they're heavier the one you have now, if not they can put in extra supports which again isn't a great deal of costs.
