It's to give everyone a chance, as Conny pointed out it would be possible for one person to sit up all night, doing nothing but submitting a string of answers, I'm pretty sure most of us would soon get fed up, and not bother to contribute anymore.
Being pipped at the post, happens, it's frustrating, but all part of the game.

I mean if you look back just on this page.. there's a post from you at 2:09am this morning, and the next post at 8:09pm tonight... if you were to sit up for three hours and post 100 new responses... the next person is still presented with one word to work on...??

As i said, i will abide by the rules though, if that's what's been agreed.
