This is just a general warning, I have a new shape Corsa 1.3CDTI. At 6,500 miles I was amazed to see the oil light came on when cornering, checking the oil level it was just on the minnimum, very surprised I spoke to the local Vauxhall dealer only to be told that it is quite normal. The car has now covered 17,200 miles and oil level is fine.

Yep, I've noticed exactly the same thing this week after about 3000 miles.
It also happeed with another diesel Corsa about 3 years ago - for the first 3000 miles it burnt oil like a 2-stroke, but settled down to a negligible oil consumption afterwards.
I reckon it's probably something like a lot of clearance designed into the turbo bearings to allow for thermal expansion that gets taken up by burnt oil residue after a few thousand miles.
