Hello,

we're going for a Whirlpool Pool bath but are stuck on deciding the best shower to use with it. We are hoping to fit a thermostatic recessed control with three outlet diverter (we've seen one in a Bristan catalogue but some last-minute confusion now as it doesn't tally with the same product on their site) - shower head/handset/overflow filler.

Our main priority is to get the best shower we can in terms of effectiveness. We're concerned that a wall-hung shower will feel 'restricted', as we'd need to stand close to the end of the bath when using, and are considering a fixed head shower rose which we think will allow us to stand further into the bath (we're not sure which head would be best - Bristane do an inexpensive one but it's plastic).

This is for a bathroom in a first floor tenement flat in Scotland. We'll be installing mains gas (we're renovating the whole flat) and will be fitting a Glow-worm Flexicon 30 CX combi boiler fed by mains water (removing the old gravity feed tank). Our plumber has tested mains pressure and has said it's "very good".

We'd love a recommendation for the best shower to go with (one with a three way diverter) maybe based on feedback of folk who have used them?

It's not been easy to find three way diverters. Is this because they are quite new and, if so, is enough known about them to say if they're reliable or are likely to give many problems?

Does 'you get what you pay for' apply re plastic shower heads i.e. are they inferior to brass in terms of longevity/reliability?

You might not get enough hot water flow from a combi to power any sort of big can style shower head.

I'd make sure the head you go for is designed for the flow rate of the combi.

The flow rate for the Glow-worm Flexicon is 12.3 but I don't know what the shower head is designed for - data sheet says it's "suitable for all plumbing systems" and for water pressure 0.1 bar to 10.0 bar.

We're still struggling to get enough good info to make a decision so trying to bump this (didn't realise the forum is so busy).
