I installed a new sink and worktop about year ago, I have just noticed a small section about 100mm long is starting to rise, water is getting in, when I fitted the worktop I had gap a about 4 to 5mm wide, to fill the gap I stuffed bits of news paper down it, it seems to of sunk down abit, and water is getting in, I don't want to resilicon the whole worktop as its 2m long, can I add new silicon over the bit that sunk down? its only sunk just enough to expose the edge of the worktop

Its best to remove the old silicone with a knife if you can, but if thats impossible the new will stick to the old so long as everything is clean and dry. Smooth the new stuff over with a finger, and if you want to be really neat you can use two layers of masking tape, one on each side of the joint. Apply the new silicone, smooth with a finger. Remove the tape, and go over with the finger again to smooth the edges.

Thanks for the prompt reply, thats relief, I'm down to B&Q
thanks again
