Hi hope some one can help i've got a monobloc tap(ikea stockvick) in the kitchen that was leaking badly at the base so thought i would just replace it took it out went to buy a new one but when i went to fit it the hole in the kitchen top it was to big 44mm and not 35mm like it should be but because the original tap was wide at the bottom 55mm this was not a problem now i can't seem to find any as wide as the original so have no tap i don't won't to spend a fortune does anyone know where i could get a tap this size from one of the sheds or screwfix or a local shop would be ideal

ps. it can't be fixed as i can't get the cartridge out

The best thing you can do is ring a few manufacturers Customer Service numbers and ask about bottom dimensions. (Be careful if a woman answers. Asking about bottom dimensions might be seen as offensive if she's a bit touchy. :) )

How about getting yourself a chrome plated brass sink or basin waste fitting. Drop it into the hole as a reducer, and fit the backnut underneath. Then mount your new mixer on that?

Most of the brass ones have some form of grid at the top, but it should be relatively easy to remove with a jigsaw, padsaw or even a cold chisel to make room for the tap tails.
