I've just bought an old house and the current kitchen floor is made up of quarry tiles laid on the dirt. These are cold and are only going to get damp if I cover them up.
I know I should dig down a foot or so and put in a new insulated slab but this is too much cost right now.
Would there be any major problems with just putting down some blinding sand, a DPM, 50mm celotex and 50-60mm of screed over the top until funds allow for an extension, or is this likely to fail dramatically with laminate or tiles over the top? Should I just put up with the quarry tiles until I can afford to do is properly?
