i have just fitted a new toilet and because of the different size of the old one i had to cut back the soil pipe that goes outside.I slid it out of the wall to cut it then slid it back as far as it would go... so everythng is done no leaks on the inside.. so i has the wife flush whilst i am outside and i have a small leak coming from the soil elbow outside. It is in as far as it will go but is leaking.

The leak only lasts about a second if that but i want to sort it pronto. Is there any sealant type stuff i can put on it or do i need to replace the pipe, meaning taking the loo out again..??

Thanks in advance.

Its either not cut square or pushed all the home if it is leaking.

I would redo rather than trying to seal which will fail soon enough. :(

I suppose it's a long shot but i could try pushing inwards from the outside ? if that makes sense.

Is the branch plastic? If so make sure that the seals have not been fouled, you can apply some silicone grease to help make seat properly.

Yes it is all plastic.. would it be easier to remove the outside soil pipe and redo it from outside.
The actual elbow what goes into the wall is covered in loads of gauze like stuff already....ad were it meets the downpipe is also covered in this gauze.

New elbow needed maybe ?

If i were to replace the elbow could i do it without removing the toilet ?

I always seem to do things twice when I attempt something for the first time when DIYing.

Take it apart and try again and don't koj it
