Thinking about buying a new wc for my downstairs bathroom. Is a PUSH-BUTTON type worth getting? If anything goes wrong with the siphon/valve, are they easier to repair, standard sizes, etc or are the parts hard to-get, etc.

ok will do. what i was getting at is say i need a new siphon in a few years time, are they standard sizes for push button cisterns like they are for side-flushing handle types?? would most plumbing merchants have replacements available if needed?

lot more choice with a push button cistern and not the sort of part you can buy at the local sheds like a syphon.

what do you mean? if i get a push-button toilet, (which are supposedly popular nowadays)!! if it goes wrong or wears i cannnot replace the siphon/float valve easily???!!!

their are lots more different types of dual flush valves than syphons.
and they are not stocked by your local sheds.
i've had to order flush valves before from the suppliers and have taken upto a week.

oh, so even if say in 3 years time my cistern won't flush, and i called out a plumber, he wouldn't be able to fix it straight away??!!!! might as well stick to the old school siphon type then i guess !!!

if you say it like that yes as with a syphon straight change or just change the diaphragm up and running.
as with a dual flush i had the cable broke or the clips broke off the bottom etc
